"STILL FALLS THE RAIN"

Okay...
This project is giving me the headaches...
1. It is so much more technically difficult than I thought it would be.
2. Making a slight mistake at certain phases could have me starting the piece all over again (e.g the drilled holes for the connection to sit in, must be 90 degrees angle. [Trust me… this was one of the hardest parts])
3. Taking more time than I thought it would.
4. Material cost and Outsourcing cost is killing me... (Estimated total cost for Material/Outsourcing: $1000+)

The drilling of the holes to the accurate angle and making the connection piece were I think the most difficult phases whilst creating the piece. The drilling was so hard because I needed to drill deadest right in the middle on the neckpiece and it needed to withhold the 90 degrees angle for the connection to sit correctly. This doesn’t sound all that difficult, but it is… Trust me! Secondly, making the connection piece was frustrating because, initially I wanted to make little balls with a chain attached off it so the rain pieces would attach on and move freely. I tried to make the balls from metal clay (its sterling silver in clay form. I’m able to shape and create any shape I want and then heat it to turn it into pure sterling silver. I know =) amazing huh~) but it was so difficult getting the size and shape of the balls constant so to solve the problem, I chose to create the whole connection piece made from jump rings and chains. (probably wasn’t the best solution, but for now, it will do. I may figure out a different way once the piece is resolved). It will do for now as it still does the job.

I also decided to imbed small diamonds onto the rain pieces to create an enhanced effect of the rain. All up 40 white diamonds and 60 black diamonds were included.
I also had the setting of the diamonds outsourced. The diamonds were hammer set.

All right, despite all that, once I overcome those hurdles, it is not so bad. Plus, coming closer to the finishing line, I cannot help to think that every effort and cent I spent on this project is all worth it in the end.

As of now, I still have to finalise bits and pieces + clean up the piece and work on the type of finish I want.
I’ve also organized a proper photo shoot for the piece. So hopefully I can get the piece finished quickly and move onto the photo shoot by the end of next week!
I’m EXCITED!

Wow, it's coming along beautifully, material & outsourcing cost is a bit insane though! haha.
