To design and produce an object based on the idea of the 'fold'... |
How it all began... |
model making & playing with possible ideas... |
Model making |
More cardboard models... |
refining model design |
larger model |
refining techniques and processes |
constructing custom mould for shaping |
utilising mould, using the press |
joining/constructing issues... |
spray painting to test out colours |
prototype |
I felt the piece lacked something, which meant more playing around with design, material, construction etc... |
industrial double sided tape for joining? |
testing out perforated galvanised steel as a possible material choice |
The perforation reduces weight and has an interesting visual affect |
Also came up with a solution of joining the two panels using tube rivets |
The rough edges were a problem |
The blank strip helped solve the 'rough edge' problem as well as providing a negative space for branding |
Texture black 'ZIG' |
Ebony white 'ZIG' |
Flame red 'ZIG' |
Four points of enfoldment is intended as a showcase as well as a
market. It is a short but vital moment for the designers to shine and
show off their potential for innovation. Four points represents the
culmination of work by the designers in the Masters of Design program
at UTS; which pairs the creative process with practical small scale
manufacture. The range of work that will be presented explores the
concept of ‘fold’; with designers from very different backgrounds, it
presents the exhibition with four objects designed with their own
unique philosophy.
